Happy Rabbit Year!
The rhythm of this chant came from the traditional  drumming patterns. Modification is made to make it more appropriate for American children. The final goal of this activity is to play the chant on the drums and cymbals without the words.

1. Teach the children the chant with motions. Pay attention to the words “rabbit,” “carrot,” and “turn around and.”
2. Transfer the words to chopsticks/rhythmic sticks and body percussion. First, practice the rhythm by tapping the chopsticks/rhythmic sticks and tapping on the  floor.
3. Play the rhythms on sticks and drums.
4. Add gong on words “munch” and “bunch.”
5. Add the rest of the instruments. The teacher may play the cymbals, which is more challenging.
